Mini Chicken Rasta Pasta Cup
Gomoku rasta pasta with sautéed mixed vegetables, our signature jerk pasta sauce and a sample of jerk chicken.
Join new and returning Durham College and Ontario Tech students for a welcoming night of food, board games, guided icebreakers and fun contests at Gomoku Restaurant & Event Space.
Come with friends or arrive on your own. The night is designed to make starting conversations easier.
Starting a new school year can feel exciting, awkward and overwhelming at the same time.
Welcome to North Oshawa Night is a student social created to make meeting people feel easier. You will have simple ways to introduce yourself, find people with shared interests and join activities without being placed under pressure.
There is no need to arrive with a group. In fact, the experience is designed for students who want to meet people outside their existing classes, programs and social circles.
Whether you are new to Oshawa, entering your first year or returning for another semester, you are welcome.
Arrive with friends or come independently.
Your admission includes food, hosted activities, social tools and a take-home Gomoku promotional item.
Enjoy a set tasting plate prepared for the event. Each item is served in a sample portion so every registered guest receives food while there is still plenty of time and room to socialize.
Gomoku rasta pasta with sautéed mixed vegetables, our signature jerk pasta sauce and a sample of jerk chicken.
A sample of Gomoku jerk chicken served over rice and peas for a bold Caribbean-inspired bite.
One golden, crispy dumpling served as an easy-to-enjoy social bite. The flavour will be selected for efficient event service.
Juicy tomato, red onion, feta and balsamic drizzle served on freshly baked bread.
A vegetarian alternative will be available by advance request. Final allergen information will be posted before the event.
Your admission includes optional social tools, guided activities, games and contests designed to make meeting new people feel more natural.
At check-in, you will receive optional visual tools that make it easier to show how you want to socialize, share a little about yourself and find people with common interests.
The activities give you a natural reason to introduce yourself without forcing anyone into uncomfortable conversations. Participate as much or as little as you choose.
Join an open game, bring a new group together or ask one of our event hosts to help you find a table.
Compete in mixed-team trivia, social challenges and other skill-based contests throughout the evening.
Each guest will receive a Gomoku laptop or water-bottle sticker with a return offer for a future visit.
Dirty sodas, mocktails, pop, selected smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks will be available to order throughout the event.
Every guest can build a personal Connection Kit at check-in. It is designed to answer three simple questions at a glance:
There is no matching algorithm, dating component or pressure to share personal information. You choose what to wear, what to write and how much you want to participate.
Your wristband helps other guests understand the easiest way to approach you. Each wristband includes words as well as colour, so nobody has to memorize the system.
You are ready to introduce yourself, join a conversation and meet new people.
You are open to meeting people, but a board game, contest or conversation prompt is the easiest place to begin.
You arrived with someone or already know a few people, but you are still happy to meet other students.
Your name tag gives other students an easy opening line before the conversation begins. Add only the details you are comfortable sharing.
You can leave any section blank. No phone number, social-media handle or personal contact information is required.
Interest stickers help people find an immediate point of connection. Place up to three on your name tag.
Event hosts will use the Connection Kit respectfully to help guests join tables, find students with shared interests and connect with other people attending alone.
A host can help you join a game or activity.
Your stickers make common interests easier to notice.
You can request an introduction whenever you need one.
Instead of wondering who is open to chatting or how to begin, you can see a friendly invitation, a name and at least one shared interest before you start the conversation.
Join relaxed, hosted activities designed to make introductions easier while still giving you the freedom to participate at your own pace.
Meet guests who match friendly prompts such as new to Oshawa, in the same year as you, likes board games, commutes to campus or studies at the other school.
Join several short, guided conversations using prepared prompt cards.
You can skip this activity and continue with board games or open seating.
Team up with students from different programs, years and schools for questions about campus life, Oshawa, music, food and general pop culture.
Easy-to-learn games will remain available throughout the evening.
Event hosts can help start new tables and introduce guests with similar interests.
Selected Durham College and Ontario Tech student groups may give brief introductions so guests can learn about ways to become involved on campus.
From check-in and welcome bites to games, trivia and prizes, the evening is planned to make meeting new people feel relaxed and natural.
